Cities in the UK are constantly changing, this as a result of their economic growths and declines over the years, being architecture one of the main witnesses of this evolution. The building located at No. 6 Victoria Street, originally created to host the Midland Bank in 1897, is a clear example of this phenomenon. Due the last recession in the country, consequence of the Covid-19 closure policy, this building was selected to perform an interior intervention with the aim of mitigate its emptiness and to try to recover the economy in the surrounding area.

This temporary intervention works as an Exhibition Hall, which tries to provide spaces for small and medium sized studios and students, to showcase their design work. The project intends to work as a link between local designers and future consumers, carrying with the role of reviving local craftsmanship in Nottingham. The pavilion is prepared to host exhibitions of different sizes and shapes by providing different scales galleries throughout the project.

The project was created to work in harmony within the existing structure, allowing the internal proposal to breathe while allowing the user to experience the original details, as could be its authentic ceiling rosette. By doing this, the project work as a whole combination of the old and new structure, providing an atmospheric space for its users and visitors.

The MA Interior Architecture and Design is a multi-dimensional course which incorporates the understanding of interior, spatial and architectural design alongside an awareness of building structure.

The course is an intensive 53 week in length, and it is divided into three successive terms: Certificate, Diploma and Masters. The DIPLOMA SHOW is the conclusion of Term 2, launched in July 2021. At the end of Term 3 October 2021, the same students present their MASTERS SHOW before entering into industry or further studies.

The course has a very strong studio-based culture which is reflective of professional practice, with a combination of design and skills-based teaching and exploration with a strong focus on the spatial investigation, humancentric and holistic use of space.
