STUDENT HUB OASIS

Nottingham City is a modest sized city with a large student population of just over 60,000 active students spread across the cities two main universities (Nottingham Trent University/ University of Nottingham).

The City of Nottingham Statement:

“We have an active policy to encourage purpose-built student accommodation in appropriate parts of the city such as the city centre, to free up homes in our communities for other occupants. By the end of this year, just under 2,000 new student bed space rooms will be available, with even more planned for the 2021/22 academic year and beyond. But currently, this supply of new student accommodation has not kept up with demand as our two highly successful universities continue to expand and attract more students.”

Both university campuses are located closely to the Victoria embankment site which sparked the concept of a student hub oasis. The proposal will act as a getaway for the students of Nottingham from the standardised student buildings which at times can be alienating. The student hub oasis will act as the optimum balance for the students in hopes of the elimination of student social-alienation.
