Sheffield Academy of Dance

The building will contain 6 double height dance studios and a 350 person auditorium, and will aim to celebrate the culture of dance and the CIQ. The building will use a hybrid concrete structure to make use of the benefits provided by both pre-cast and cast in-situ concrete components. Where the building does not follow a uniform grid cast in-situ concrete slabs will be used. Precast double-tee concrete floor beams will be used for the dance studios to withhold the load of a room of dancers across a long span, holding excellent durability, strength and acoustic properties. The project will aim for BREEAM Excellent. Strategies and systems such as the following will be used to help achieve this; Excellent Thermal Mass, Efficient HVAC System, Rainwater Storage, PV Panels, Connection To District Heating Network, High Indoor Air Quality, Acoustic Design Measures, Brownfield Site, Green Roof, Responsible Sourcing, Use Of Durable Materials, Encouragement Of Public Transport, Improved Pedestrian Access.
