Reimaging of spaces of large-scale historical buildings, with great architectural significance, left unused after the economic decline in Nottingham, have become necessary as they have become as dead pockets in an urban fabric. Hence, the Midlands Bank along the Victoria Street in the city centre has been chosen as a site. This building, which was previously occupied by an UK fashion brand, The French Connection, remains empty now after the store moved out.

Victoria street is a commercial hub for diverse high-brand stores, this attracts numerous customers that may be looking for art consumption. Therefore, proposing a commercial space such as a Gallery for Artisans, will provide a platform for local artists to display their work while reaching out to new audiences due to the ideal location of the space.

The proposal has been designed with the consciousness of the historical elements of the existing structure, this to cause a minimal defilement to the historical building. The overlaying of the proposed temporary modern timber structure over the existing historical building, will captivate more audience to the space.
