WeCreate Coworking Space

The typology of UK major cities has shifted due the economic growths or declines over the time, this alters on how we perceive them and even their essence and functionality. The aim of this project was to explore how large-scale historical buildings can be RE-IMAGINED, in order to visually minimise the effect of redundant empty spaces, which have visually altered the current streetscape.

Located in Nottingham city centre, WeCreate is a co-working space that gathers people from different fields in the creative industry including artists, designers, architects, writers. The space intends to bring talents together and encourage networking, collaboration, and learning, all these through its open floor design and dynamic circulation.

The proposal offers a diverse range of workspaces that build a culture of innovation and experimentation, an exhibition space that showcases creative work, and a café that invites people passing by Victoria Street to come and have a look into the space. The aim of WeCreate is to help creatives not only find a place that appreciates their talents, but also bridge them with other creatives through a ‘bump into each other’ concept. The design highlights the use of natural light, timber, and glass to achieve a balance between privacy and transparency.

MA Interior Architecture and Design

The MA Interior Architecture and Design is a multi-dimensional course which incorporates the understanding of interior, spatial and architectural design alongside an awareness of building structure.

The course is an intensive 53 week in length, and it is divided into three successive terms: Certificate, Diploma and Masters. The DIPLOMA SHOW is the conclusion of Term 2, launched in July 2021. At the end of Term 3 October 2021, the same students present their MASTERS SHOW before entering into industry or further studies.

The course has a very strong studio-based culture which is reflective of professional practice, with a combination of design and skills-based teaching and exploration with a strong focus on the spatial investigation, humancentric and holistic use of space.
