A Creative Workspace for Publishers

This project encompasses the exploration of how temporary change and function can encourage a new lease of life into spaces. It introduces a unique way of designing, as well as presenting a momentary structure that can evolve. The chosen site is located in the heart of Nottingham City centre, specifically, No.6 Victoria Street. This project provides support and encouragement for new businesses to grow following the Covid-19 national lockdown.

Understanding the ‘Re-Imagined’ brief, demographics, typology, and the surrounding functions were taken into consideration. With further research into the area of scope circling 6 Victoria Street, the function of the space becomes more apparent. The design created is dedicated to young professions within the publishing industry, as many young professionals and graduates are located within this area. This space would also be available to hire out for sole occupancy towards magazine and book publishing companies.

Overall, the refurb project promotes a creative work and events space to socialise, collaborate and entertain. By providing neutral and soft toned materials, the design aims to give people a sense of comfortability despite being in a work environment.

MA Interior Architecture and Design

The MA Interior Architecture and Design is a multi-dimensional course which incorporates the understanding of interior, spatial and architectural design alongside an awareness of building structure.

The course is an intensive 53 week in length, and it is divided into three successive terms: Certificate, Diploma and Masters. The DIPLOMA SHOW is the conclusion of Term 2, launched in July 2021. At the end of Term 3 October 2021, the same students present their MASTERS SHOW before entering into industry or further studies.

The course has a very strong studio-based culture which is reflective of professional practice, with a combination of design and skills-based teaching and exploration with a strong focus on the spatial investigation, humancentric and holistic use of space.
